Foot Prints Of The Word In History-Part Two!

Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

The word of God has withstood the vagaries of history. Men have schemed to wipe the Bible off the face of the earth and failed.

Heresies have attempted to dilute the absoluteness of it’s truth and failed. Trajan Decius,a Roman emperor tried to eliminate it’s writings and failed.

The Roman Catholic Church tried to bury it in the secrecy of a singular language, relegating it to a select few and killing the men that translated it but the Word still erupted into the hands of masses.

Voltaire, the famous French philosopher once declared, “One hundred years from today, the Bible will be a forgotten book. “Years later, accounts indicate that his own house was used as a repository for Bibles-the irony of history!

The word of God has prevailed against the storms of time, the hurricanes of religious wars, the corrosive faces of Rationalism, Deism, Darwinism and Atheism.

In his book, God’s Generals, Roberts Liardon narrates the story of the healing Apostle, Alexander Dowie. He accounts that Alexander was arrested one hundred times.

Foxe’s Book of Martyrs details some gruelling accounts of Christians guillotined, immersed in boiling oil, burnt at stakes, mauled by bulls and hungry lions, stoned to death-all because of the gospel.

When you got Born Again, you got into a covenant that made you an enemy to the world (John 15:18).The promise from our Lord and master was clear; you, “shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with PERSECUTIONS; and in the world to come eternal life. “

You will suffer many things because of this gospel. But the Lord has promised that it all works for your good (Roman 8:28).

Paul,in the bliss of this understanding called them light afflictions (2Corinthians 4:17).We have a cloud of witnesses cheering us on (Hebrews 12:1).These are people that have gone before you.

There is no temptation that has befallen you that is not common to man (1 Corinthians 10:13).It means that someone victoriously went through what you are going through. If someone did it, you also can, in the name of Jesus! Amen!

Persecution was and is one of the defining marks of the early and the present Church. The Christians of that time wore it as a badge of honour, the hero’s medallion of victory against a fallen world.

Nothing and absolutely nothing can corrode the purity, integrity and fullness of the Word of God. History has proved it, eternity will prove it!

This is the very Word that we have believed. It is forever settled in the heavens~Psalms 119:89

Child of God, count it all joy when you suffer persecution, for it is the refining fire by which the militant Church matches triumphant. Glory to God!
